WCPL 2026 Preview

Like the men’s competition, there is a new team, Jamaica Empress, and Barbados will host the WCPL for the first time. For the defending champions, Barbados Tridents, this will be the first time the women’s side has played under the Tridents moniker and in Bajan blue kits. New name or not, they will be hoping to extend their winning streak to four titles.

With expansion comes worries of a drop in quality. With the addition of a side, teams get reshuffled and the talent pool gets stretched. The clash with the end of the English domestic season and the Women’s T20 Asia Cup has also generated concern over the quality of overseas players available.
