“That man there, Jason Holder, I’m trying to get him in, but that’s not possible as yet.”

Fresh from the announcement of the latest West Indies Test squad to play Sri Lanka in a two-match series, Jason Holder’s absence stands out.
Holder hasn’t played a Test match since the home match against South Africa in August 2024. Since then, West Indies have played twelve Test matches, and other than a rumour that Holder was asked to join the squad in India last year due to a spate of injuries, there doesn’t seem to be a clear plan to get the Caribbean’s best all-rounder back into Test whites.
