Common sense meets controversy as West Indies name Test squad to tour India
21.09.25, 22:31 Updated 22.09.25, 16:22

A rare occurrence happened in West Indies cricket this past week. A Test squad was announced without any shock or major talking points.
If we want to be picky, of course you find some reasons to shout at the sky, but on the whole, the rationale for the picks are clear.
When Daren Sammy was announced as the new West Indies Test head coach, he made it evident that his vision involved bringing in a new style of cricket and reaching out to as many cricketers as possible. In came Shai Hope, Roston Chase as the new captain, and Brandon King in a newly bolstered top seven.
By now, you know the story. In a series where ball completely dominated bat, no West Indian batter, bar possibly Brandon King, came out of the series with their reputation intact.
